Beautiful framed wooden canvas from the end of the 19th century.
The reference narrative is the one found in the Acts of the Apostles (Acts 2:14-42) in which Saint Peter starts preaching to the crowd after Pentecost, exhorting the people to baptism. In this scene, as in the Sermon, Peter is depicted alone, while in the text of the Acts he was in the company of the other apostles: this choice strongly emphasises his primacy and his personification with the entire Church.
This antique canvas is of such rarity that there are no copies, a unique collector’s piece!
