Ungaro: At the age of nine, Emanuel Ungaro learned the craft of tailoring with the help of his father in Aix-en-Provence. Coming from an Apulian family immigrated from Francavilla Fontana, he moved first to Paris, and then to Barcelona to work with Balenciaga, staying there for six years. In the following two years he worked at Courrèges.
She created her own label in 1965 and presented her first collection during the peak period of Futurist fashion. His trademark will always be a mix of prints and luminous shades on drapery. Emanuel Ungaro’s main shop was established at the beginning of Avenue Montaigne in Paris. In the eighties he was one of the five big names in Parisian haute couture.
In 1996 his company was bought by the Italian group Ferragamo. Ungaro then retired from running the company. He definitively left the Parisian fashion world on 26 May 2004 after more than 35 years of collections.
In 2012, the Italian company Aeffe resumed the production and distribution of Ungaro items.
