Fabulous triptych composed of three silver pieces stamped ‘800’ and with the 1930s fascist-era mark ’41 MI’ by Fratelli di Leone silverware, Masenza dealer, Rome. In fact, all the pieces are hallmarked with a lion, indicating the manufacturer. Two pieces are the same, but mirrored. The central part is oval-shaped and the two side ones take up the side shape to fit perfectly. This beautiful object is a mirrored glass tray, which creates a simply magnificent effect. The oval central piece is beautifully decorated in the central part, where we can clearly see very sinuous and elegant, very pompous doodles. On the sides we can also see decorations, more restrained, but still very elegant and sinuous. The shape is not quite oval, as the silver has been moulded into the frame asymmetrically to create a splendid element. The two side pieces, on the other hand, have the exact same shape, but one is mirrored in the other. The part that rests on the central oval is obviously curved, so that when you decide to bring them closer together, they fit together perfectly. On these two sides we find two very elegant curls, which continue on the frame creating a very soft S, then resume a square shape to return to a rounded shape. In the centre of this semi-curved shape is a powerful decoration, echoing the design of the central frame. This object is very special, not only because of the period in which it was produced, which brings back a great piece of Italian history, but also because of the very accurate workmanship of the Fratelli di Leone, whose heirlooms are still much loved and purchased today, given their magnificence.
