A very special ebonized wooden coffee table from 19th-century Germany, fine German manufacture.
The table is entirely made of finely ebonized, turned wood.
At the base there is a very sinuous central trunk, in fact it seems to be made up of many spheres of increasingly smaller size as you go up, all black and shiny, truly special.
At the base from this trunk are four curved legs, finely worked and polished; they are connected to the trunk by two small tubular structures that create a truly exquisite effect.
At the centre of each sphere in the trunk arise four tubular elements, one on each side. All these elements are made of gold-plated brass, painted black.
Below the top we see a truly unique element: four wooden tubular elements that descend vertically to eventually hold a small, very decorative, black painted brass bell.
The top has an oval shape, the outline of which is decorated with a sort of enclosure formed by ebonized turned wooden elements, tipped with brass. In the centre of the top is a raised circle, also enclosed in the same manner.
It is thought to have been a table for enjoying beer together, as Germany has always been famous for its golden nectar.
