Scenic floral shoulder cover designed by designer John Galliano in 1996, made in France. Its name is ‘The Pink Toile Jacket’ and it is part of the collection entitled ‘Le papillon et la fleur,’ Spring Summer 1996.
The shoulder cover is made entirely of black silk and taffeta, very light and elegant.
There are no sleeves, to allow freedom of movement, however, it is not a garment to be worn for long periods, but is suitable for those who want to enter the scene with class and visibility.
The cape closes at the side thanks to two almost invisible hooks placed in its seam.
The ruffle of the rose creates an elegant collar that rises and goes over the neck with a soft, enveloping movement. The back of the shoulder cover is pointed and goes all the way down to the very elegant back.
The centerpiece is the giant flower on the shoulder: a giant rose that makes this garment not only elegant, but above all flashy. It is endlessly classy.
The garment is a prototype, the photos of which were displayed in an exhibition in London, through an iconic photo by photographer Hazel Gaskin, who captures two women, leaning head to head, with these two identical shrugs, of opposite colors, however: one white and one black. Iconic photo.
This Galliano shrug is suitable for those who want to make a noteworthy entrance; it will certainly not go unnoticed.
