Rare Italian bench by Giuseppe Rivadossi from the 1970s. The bench is made entirely of wood. Its construction is a perfect interlocking of noble wood inserts. Great mastery in woodworking. The bench has a simple but at the same time imposing shape almost as if it were a monolith. The bench has simple, harmonious lines and its great particularity is its interlocking, where the great mastery of Giuseppe Rivadossi is evident. Rivadossi in his creations that are almost defined as sculptural works rediscovers a noble material: wood. In fact, he defines it: ‘in its full body it is already a step towards this spirit of working. To use this precious material with measure, while respecting its nature, is poetic”.
The quality of his structures stems from his ability to give, with their presence and service, a high sense of the space in which we live and recognise ourselves.
The same working techniques such as interlocking assembly (more functional to the nature of wood) are part of this rediscovery. These joints, if well defined, even in their function also become a fact of beauty.
