Lovely pair of Mid-Century armchairs designed by the great designer Renzo Zavanella in the 1950s, fine Italian manufacture.
The armchairs were taken over from a private home, the interior of the armchair was also inspected, photos of which are available upon request, which go to ascertain the provenance.
The armchairs have a base frame made of a special fine wood, of which two rigid conical feet can be seen at the front, while at the back there is a single fairly large foot with applied frame that connects directly to the seat, a sight to behold.
Immediately above we see the seat, which is very padded, soft and plush. On either side of it stand two beautiful armrests that cover the entire thickness of the chair; they are slightly curved to provide comfort for those who lean on them.
The special feature of the armchairs is their backrest: in fact, it has a narrow stem, which leaves two spaces, one to the right and one to the left of the armrests. Above the stem rises a sinuous rectangular shape, slightly curved, which gives stability and smoothness to the seat. The fabric is a beautiful yellow ochre velvet, reupholstered in the original 1980s.
The armchairs are wonderful and very rare, suitable for eccentric reading areas or lounges for conversation.
